Soul-Searching Travel !!

アメリカ旅行の思い出(2014年9月2日〜11月28日)

New Soul-Searching Travel Began

On Mon. Jan. 11th I left for London from Tokyo at noon. This is the second long trip in my life, following the last one, in the US. I plan to go around in the UK all the way from London to Aberdeen in Scotland, that will take one month.

In contrast to my last trip, this time I am so relaxed that I started to prepare for this 2 days before my departure. In fact I almost forgot to buy travel insurance, which I finally got in the morning of the departure date, but the packing basically went well because I've already had a knowledge from the last one in the US in addition to my friend in the UK having given me a lot of advice on it.

Flight is Russian Airline, Aero Float, that is the cheapest one from Tokyo to London. Down side of this ticket was that it required us to transfer in Moscow and the travel took  almost 14 hours in total. I watched a movie "Bridge of Spies," and read "Sherlock Holmes" trying to motivate myself to enjoy the UK travel, but 14 hours flight was too much for me. Sometimes I slept and woke up in  20 minutes, then started to read a kindle book, and tried to sleep again. Flight food was not bad, especially aperitif, that helped me to sleep after having foods, was good. One thing in the flight I was embarrased was that I couldn't listen what the Russian cabin crew said to me when she asked me which drink did I want. She defenitely spoke English, but with Russian accent, and I thought it was Russian language. So I asked her "English, please," and she showed me her troubled look. Fortunately, next person, who was also Japanese, taught me that she was speaking English, but I felt asamed for my bad English skill and felt sorry about letting her feel bad.

Anyway, I finally arrived at London, and met up with my friend who was supposed to offer my accomodation sharing his student flat. When I arrived at London, I was really tired because of mostly the jetlag, but still I was astonished by the British Skyscrapers. I've never seen such this secenary. The harmony of modern and historic was qute well at the same time I smelled the "money" from everywhere in this city. Therefore even I was exausted by the long flight, I couldn't sleep well on that night.
